Locals Sign up to Install Batteries on Territory Homes and Businesses

More than 40 Territory organisations have applied to install batteries and solar PV systems on NT homes and businesses.
The Territory Labor Government is continuing its investment to deliver affordable, clean, reliable and stable energy for Territorians with the continuation of the Home and Business Battery Scheme (HBBS) in 2021-22.
To date, more than 900 Territory households and businesses have applied take part in the scheme, with over 600 applications approved, and registered battery and solar installers sharing in more than $12.2 million of total works leveraged from the Territory Government’s $3.6 million HBBS funding.
Batteries enable households and businesses to maximise use of electricity generated from rooftop solar PV systems while contributing to grid stability and reducing power system costs.
The Territory Labor Government is supporting programs that will deliver the Territory’s target of 50% renewables by 2030.
Recently, a $500,000 investment was announced which will see the Government work with the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBICRC) over a four year period.
Programs like the HBBS and FBICRC are continuing to stabilise our grid and continue to drive investment and achieve a $40 billion economy by 2030.
The Territory is Australia’s Comeback Capital because we continue to invest in new industries, expand business opportunities and create jobs for Territorians. We are progressively working towards a target of 50% renewables by 2030 and zero emissions by 2050.
47 Territory businesses have applied to take part in this scheme. This means more jobs, more training and more opportunity.
We want Territorians to have access to the latest and best technology as we build a stronger and more resilient power system for Territory households and businesses.
Local businesses and local families are benefiting from this scheme – whether it’s receiving the work now to install the PV and Battery system, or saving on their electricity bill in the future – this is a win-win for the Territory.
